Futurotextiles – clothes from the future

A sweater that checks your mood, lace made of strawberry roots or a dress that uses wood as textiles: the third edition of the Futurotextiles exhibition presents the intriguing alliance of textile innovation, high fashion and art.

Sesigners wish to bring nature closer to fashion by using amazing fibers such as the spider silk from Madagascar, five times stronger than steel and two times more elastic than nylon, or the Japanese ancestral fabric fujifu made from the fiber lying under the bark of the branch of the wisteria, which was notably used in designing kimonos.

             

   Another exhibit SF cloth is the red wine dress, made by allowing microbes to ferment and "grow" into fabric that on the surface, has an aesthetic very similar to the meat dress famously worn by Lady Gaga.

                You can also see an anti-bacterian night gown, the dress that purifies the air, or the one that shows you feelings through light.

                The exhibit travels around the world since 2009.

Bold African style prints for women - De-Mes’Tiks by Reuben Reuel

                Browsing through different fashion shops for a best friend’s birthday may be a challenge, since a lot of the products may look alike. Searching and searching and not finding anything left me disappointed, since my friend is a very special person and also with a deep fashion style. I just wanted to buy something special, one-of-a-kind product. 

At the end of an exhausting day I came across De-Mes’Tiks by Reyben Reuel. The designer seems to have a bold point of view in women’s fashion. The prints are daring and have great bright colors. A combination of vintage silhouettes and porcelain doll inspiration, De-mes'Tiks NYC takes African Chic to the next level with the distinct feeling of sophistication, polish, and glamour.  This line offers a full range of sizes from size small up to a 3x.

Reuben Reuel came up designing these great blouses, dresses and skirts after a life search for beauty. In the winter of 2007, the artist left his hometown of Virginia Beach, VA to follow his dream in fashion. At first he worked as a freelance sample maker and design assistant for several small design companies. Than, in 2010 he decided to create a business of his own, De-Mes'Tiks NYC by Reuben Reuel.

 

The aesthetic of the label is finding fabrics that inspire creativity. He sees New York City's Garment District as a designer's treasure chest. The label’s initiative is to support domestic commerce by using fabrics, trims, notions, and production facilities in New York City in efforts to help preserve the Garment District. De-Mes'Tiks NYC by Reuben Reuel strongly believes in its motto: “Live to create, create to live”.

Eye-painting – amazing art technique!

Did you know a human kind could paint with his tears? Well, Leandro Granato's Eye Paintings Involve Squirting Watercolors Out Of His Eyes.

Leandro is an Argentinian artist and creates abstract paintings by snorting a watercolor mixture up his nose, and pushing it through a connection near his eye.

Sometimes, Granato has to “cry” over the canvas for hours. And nobody can say he’s a fraud, since, the artist recordes on film every painting he makes. Leandro created his first painting at 20 years old.
